Denver trip recap

We had a great time in Denver/Aspen over Memorial Day weekend. We went to visit Melissa, Martin, Chloe and Nicollette (baby Nickels as Griffin likes to call her).
We spent a day/evening at their place in Denver and sat outside with some drinks and catching up, as well as hitting a park for a bit of playing. After the chitlens went to bed, we decided we needed to prepare ourselves for our big trip to Aspen, so we watched Dumb and Dumber. That is real cinema!

The next morning we rented a mini-van and packed us all up and headed to the mountains. The drive was pretty, the kids were mostly behaved and we got to our rental around lunch.

We checked ourselves in and then walked around town. Had some margaritas and mexican food at a great local place and then the kids played around at a park, while Melissa and I shopped around a bit. All kinds of fancy pants stores that we couldn't afford anything. After strolling around awhile, we checked back at the park to get the kiddies.

We headed back to our condo and took the kids swimming. Dan and Martin picked up some beverages at the liquor store. The water was GREAT! it was super warm water and the scenery was fantastic. We were right at the base of the mountains and it was definitely a highlight to the trip. Griffin was loving the water...jumping, splashing and blowing bubbles. We hung out in the pool and hot tub for a couple of hours before heading back to the condo.
After G, Chloe and Nickels went to bed, we hung out, had some drinks and Dan and I both wondered why we live so far away from the Krugers.

The night was great, although we had some restless sleep as G was sleeping with us and that kid hogs the bed! We had a king sized bed and at one point Dan had a tiny sliver on the bed and i was at the foot of the bed, while Griffin was spread out horizontally across the bed. He sure rules the roost.

The next day we had an AMAZING breakfast at a place called Poppycocks, packed up and drove around the rich homes up in the mountains. Some crazy-huge houses. We headed up to a park and the kids climbed a bit while we took some photos and walked around a bit.

We finally decided to start making our way back. We had a fun drive back, stopping along the way at some hot springs (didn't go in...too crowded), and a brewery.

We finally made it back (kids were a bit restless in the car) and stopped for some ice cream. We drove around Denver, saw Melissa and Martin's new townhome they will be moving into in a few weeks and finally made it back to their place.

We were sad it was our last night, as we had such a great time with everyone and we felt like we didn't have enough time to do everything. But overall, we had a great trip and it really felt like vacation!
Of course the juvenile humor we all share...we had to take pictures of all the 'hot spots' such as "Glory Hole Park" and "Hymen Blvd". Good stuff.

Griffin was pretty good...a bit shy at first and a little out of sorts here and there, due to all the traveling, car riding and nap-missing. But, he definitely had fun. He enjoyed the "choo-choo" and airplane traveling and he's still been talking about being up in the clouds and going through tunnels.
He has been saying "martin, missa, and baby nickels" since we've been home. (apparently he doesn't miss Chloe??).
Once we made it home, he was missing his little buddies! So were we.

getting with the times

so, i'm taking the jump into the cyberworld, starting a blog. i'm only doing this because I want to document Griffins journey. I don't have anything that important to say about myself, but I want our kid to look back and have some documentation of his life! We are horrible picture takers, horrible "baby book" writers, and the random chance that we take a picture...we don't do anything with it from there. So...this will be my attempt at creating a digital archive of our life.

it'll take me awhile to figure out all this blog shit. i am not very savvy when it comes to technology. i rocked out to tapes years after they became obsolete. we were the lamos that had beta, and i can't really figure out how to use a digital camera. But, let's see how this all goes...
