catching up with friends

we had a lovely weekend. melissa, martin, along with kids chloe and nicollette were in town for a wedding.
we went to como during the day on friday, then had a bbq with some of our friends that night. fun times and always fun to hang out and catch up with melissa.
we kept the party going pretty late and i think i impressed some neighbors with my joke telling....uhhh..yeah.

saturday i went to my friend nuala's memorial service. it was sad, but it was also a great tribute to a wonderful woman. many people spoke on how involved she was in her community, her heritage, her jobs, her friendships and her family. she was truly a leader, organizer and a collector of friends. she had a fiesty spirit and when she wanted to see something happen...she did it. i think we can all learn from her example and carry on the great things she did. i hope i can be inspired to be a better person and reach out to people in need more than I do.

saturday evening melissa and martin had a wedding, so dan and i babysat the kiddos. they were well-behaved and we got along just fine. they are super cute. nickels is one of the most mellow and happy babies i've seen. chloe is quite the character, and can wear a person out...she is smart beyond her age and is the master of getting her way. but she's so damn cute that it just seems to work out and you aren't really sure what just happened, but she is really sweet, cute and funny.

sunday was spent cleaning, running errands, grilling out and hanging out at home.

back to work today. i have a huge presentation that i have to give tomorrow in front of about 25-30 people. i'm DREADING this. as much as i appear to love the spotlight, things like this make me nervous. i should be fine tuning my power-point presentation right now, but i don't want to think about it.

maybe if i just grab a microphone and belt it out in song, i'll feel right at home?
i mean...i do ROCK at alanis morrisette's "all i really want". maybe i can put my speech to the tune of that song and just really win the crowd over?
