weekend adventures

things have been busy with us, but good.
we had a great weekend. hung out with friends, babysat for some other good friends, went to dinner at a fantastic pizza joint and managed to get in some exercise, shopping for griffin undies and grilling out at home.

Went out to the iron girl course and did the run. I still have some work to do.
Went on a 16 mile bike ride and it was great not pulling that burly!! That thing must add on another 35 lbs..I think griffin is about 26 lbs and the thing itself has to weigh 10 lbs or more!
it felt good and i'm not too worried about the bike portion, although i've been told it's kinda hilly.

this past week dan and i went out on a date. whoa. we are trying to do a monthly babysitting swap with pete and kim, and we decided to go out to dinner. it was nice. dan and i definitely need to do things like this more often. it was almost like a first date in the beginning...we weren't sure what to even talk about! we are always talking about griffin, or daily tasks/events, so it took a minute to get in the groove of us as a couple. i think (probably like most parents) we have let our interests, and identities slip a bit, so we just want to do a better job of getting back in touch with ourselves as individuals, as well as a couple!
anyway, it was a much needed night out and great for the soul!

griffin has been great lately. potty training is clipping along at a slow pace. he does better at daycare than with us. i don't think we are as strict with it as miss yvonne is.
we put him in underwear today...i think he needs to see what it feels like to be wet. we'll see how it all goes.

he kinda got spoiled this weekend with a lot of movie watching. we had a few social events that it just seems easier to let him sit there and watch a movie..but now of course we have a little habit to try and break.

tonight we may hit the state fair...there is some music on the free stage i want to check out (brandi carlile)...and of course all the food. i need to try and resist some of the temptations...i've been good with exercise lately, so i don't want to send it all to hell with some bad state fair choices!

another busy week again and then a long weekend. sad that it also means summer is coming to an end!! where did it go?

I compiled a list of the summer activities i wanted to do this year....let's see where we are at:

1. swim at the beach (besides some floating at pie's cabin, we haven't done this!)
2. go to richfield pool - DONE
3. go to edina pool
4. go to state fair
5. go to a drive-in movie
6. hit the farmers market (just gone to the one down on nicollet mall at lunch..need to go to the others!)
7. do a lot of bike riding - DONE
8. have a picnic
9. have lots of summer bbq's - DONE
10. eat outside more - DONE (although typically we eat in our screened porch, as outside has NO shade and it's far too sunny)
11. rent a canoe/paddle boat and go around the chain of lakes
12. hit a summer beer tent or two - DONE
13. take a summer family trip - DONE
14. sleep in a tent
15. go to a saints baseball game - DONE
16. go to outdoor concerts at harriet or other local parks (we DID see our wedding band trailer trash, so i guess that counts...still need to go to harriet)
17. go to the outdoor movies in the park
18. rollerblade more often -DONE - have been going at least once per week
19. go to some art fairs
20. enjoy ice cream!! - DONE (of course!)

looks like we need to get a lot of activities done in the next few weeks!!! and it also looks like i've done most of my eating/drinking activities. go figure.
